What are the different types of massage?

Different types of massage therapy include:

Deep tissue massage

A deep tissue massage uses firm manipulation techniques to release tightness in your muscles and tendons. It’s an excellent option for reducing pain and tension caused by repetitive activities.

Swedish massage

A Swedish massage promotes relaxation and reduces stress using gentle touch. It calms the nervous system and reduces muscle tension.

Sports massage

Whether you experience a sports injury, pain, or muscle tightness, sports massages can help. They are similar to a deep tissue massage, focusing on muscle damage that occurs during repeated physical activity.

Myofascial release

Myofascial release is a massage that targets the fascia or the connective tissues present under your skin. Your massage therapist uses manual manipulation to stretch and knead muscles and fascia, reducing tightness and tension.

Trigger point massage

Trigger point massage eases pressure and discomfort caused by trigger points, small muscle spasms, or tight knots in soft tissues. Trigger points commonly appear in your neck or back. Massage places direct pressure on these trigger points to stimulate blood flow and reduce pain.

Lymphatic massage

Lymphatic massage optimizes waste product removal. It uses gentle touch to improve lymphatic flow throughout the body, thereby reducing inflammation and toxin build-up.

Prenatal massage

Prenatal massage is for pregnant women. It helps you relax, diminishes swelling, reduces aches and pains, and eliminates other bothersome symptoms during pregnancy.
