Auto Accident Injury

Auto Accident Injury servies offered in downtown, fidi, near BART/Muni railway Montgomery station, San Francisco, CA

Being in a car accident can cause long-lasting injuries and pain when not addressed. At Dr. Hipp's Chiropractic, we provide chiropractic and physical therapy treatments for collision injuries to help you heal. Often during exam, Dr. Hipp is told, "yes, I have had a car crash, but it didn't hurt me."  This may be true at first, but too often it is not true over time.  The most common injury in a car crash is the loss of normal curvature, which leads to harsh consequences including pain and dysfunction, but not immediately.  Because the head is heavier than the neck bones, and after being struck from behind, or on the side, one endures a whiplash of the head and neck, or back, leaving the spinal segments almost certainly displaced.  In 2022, it was documented that when the neck position is compromised, so is ones health.  Dizziness, headache, allergy, and heart burn  are all common after a crash. Sensory motor response becomes impaired and you may perform lower than your norm because your response to stimuli is not optimal leaving you vulnerable to symptoms like:  clumsiness leading to further accidents, or weakness resulting in pain.  Studies show that a reduced cervical curve leads to reduced oxygen supply to the brain, resulting in neurodegenerative disiorders starting with: memory loss, then leading to bigger problems like: dimentia, Parkinson's or Alzheimers' disease.  A reduced cervical curve is correctable, but one has to see a CBP chiropractor for treatment over time to correct this common subluxation, aka spinal misalignments.  If you or someone you know and care about has been in a crash, urge them to see Dr.Hipp because good health is priceless.

Auto Accident Injury Q & A

What is an auto accident injury?

Auto accident injuries are those sustained while in a collision involving you and a motor vehicle of some kind. Such injuries range in severity from mild to severe and can be long-lasting or crippling when left untreated. If you have been in a crash, whether you feel pain, or do not, still visit Dr. Hipp's Chiropractic for an evaluation as soon as possible.  Hidden problems rear their ugly head over time and understanding injuries is paramount to your health.  The worst injuries have no pain.

Undergoing a medical evaluation is important. Sometimes, it takes a few days for symptoms to appear after a collision, and it can take up to a year, and more!

What are examples of collision injuries a chiropractor can treat?

Common car accident injuries Dr. Hipp treats include:

  • Back pain or discomfort

How is an auto accident injury diagnosed?

Diagnosing an auto accident injury typically involves a comprehensive physical exam, a review of your medical history and symptoms, and X-rays icluding different positions to show damaged ligament. Dr. Hipp then tailors a holistic pain-reducing treatment that optimizes natural healing.

How does a chiropractor treat an auto accident injury?

Your visit starts with your verbal accounting of dysfunction and pain.  Then a postural exam is obtained to document where your body landed after the collision.  Palpation is used to find subluxations from head to tail.  Subluxation is present when one segment shifts from normal alignment and interferes with vital nerve flow.  Spinal misalignments create pressure on the spinal cord, or on a spinal nerve.  Nobody performs well under stress and pressure.  Orthopedic tests are used to find local or peripheral problems and a motor exam is used to reveal problems along the distribution of a nerve.  Finally,  XRay are obtained to see the overall presentation and local damage.

Next, physical therapy such as K-Laser is applied to areas of pain and dysfunction.  K-Laser helps deep tissue heal by turning over damaged cells and replacing them with fresh new cells.  Mirror image exercise helps to realign your spine in areas of weakness and damage.  We target your problem areas to optimize healing after injuries, strengthen targeted tissues, ease pain, and reduce the risk of re-injury.

Chiropractic adjustments

Chiropractic adjustments reset joint neurology.  Dr. Hipp utilizes the most advanced method in chiropractic today, Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP), this method restores normal joint mechanics and focuses on restoring proper sagittal (front to back) and coronal (side to side) alinment. CBP methods of spinal remodeling combine biology, physiology, geometry, physics, and anatomy to identify and treat the root cause of your identified problems.

Massage therapy

Each visit includes focused massage therapy.  Restoring and organizing muscle tissue after spinal misalignments is an integral part of true healing. Massage improves blood flow, reduces nerve pressure, and stimulates natural healing.

Traction

CBP doctors understand and utilize the most advanced traction methods for spinal remodeling.  It is of the utmost importance to restore a person to pre injury status.  Traction, which is done passively is utilized to stretch spinal tissues specifically where damage has been done.  This traction, in turn, reduces tension and pain by minimizing pressure placed on spinal discs and nerves.  Traction works by redirecting force upon the proper weight bearing areas of segments in your spine.

K-Laser
® treatments

K-Laser treatments use infra red light energy to regenerate tissues, stimulate healing, and reduce pain naturally.
